U.S. Army and NATO Allies in Exercise Avenger Triad 26

From early this week, U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF) and NATO allies will launch a large-scale, multi-domain combat exercise: Avenger Triad 26.

Stronger Together

Connected to NATO’s Steadfast Duel 26, the exercise Avenger Triad 26 intends to assess and enhance the ability of U.S. and allied headquarters to operate as a unified joint force in large-scale operations.

Key Facts

  • Dates: October 6-15, 2026;
  • Expected participants: 2,000 from U.S added with 2,000 military personnel from NATO allies;
  • Locations: various command posts in France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland.

Objectives:

  • To test NATO’s Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative concepts in a real setting.
  • To elevate coordination and speed: the exercise aims to enhance how quickly headquarters can make joint decisions and operate accordingly.
  • To enhance crisis response: participants will build the alliance’s ability to respond if a crisis occurs.
  • To unify the decision-makers and formations across the multi-geographical headquarters, and theaters, to improve the efficiency of all operational functions.

Looking Ahead

In an increasingly complex security environment, unity remains one of the Alliance’s greatest strength. Avenger Triad 26 and Steadfast Duel 26 place that unity into practice. Allies training side by side, sharpening how to think fast, plan more innovatively, and decide at the speed the moment demands.
